WVVI is a nice addition to my portfolio

During the last week, I have been able to open a new position in a stock that I have blogged about in the past.  Over the past few years, I have become very familiar with the price action of the illiquid micro cap stock Williamette Valley Vineyard Inc. (WVVI).

As my cash balance has been increasing in my portfolio, I decided to invest a small amount in WVVI for a pre-defined 10% gain to $4.00 range.  Although I will not be completing a full value analysis on this purchase, I feel very comforable that I will be able to capture a short term gain of 10% while beating out the S&P 500 index in the same time period.  This conclusion is soley based on the recent Price to Sales ratio range that this stock has traded in the past.

Transaction Summary:

Purchased 222 shares at $3.60, for a cost basis of $810.15 including trading fees.

S&P 500 level at the time of purchase: 1,109.24

I have added this position in the Finance Puzzle portfolio.

Author disclosure: I am long shares of WVVI.

EZPW Price Target at $16.91 with some upside

As I continue to hold EZPW in my portfolio with positive alpha, I want to set a price target for the stock to help me identify when the position should be closed.  Using the value scorecard as a start, I use a discounted cash flow (DCF) analysis with sensitivity charts to help set my price target.

For EZPW, I have calculated a price target of $16.91 per share.  Some of the major assumption to get to this price per share are a 5% free cash flow growth rate over the next five years with a 0%  terminal value.  The cash flows are discounted with a WACC of 7.7%

To see my full set of assumptions and resulting analysis, see the document below:

DCF Summary

Looking at the sensitivity chart, these shares can easily get into the $20 per share with some slight increases on both growth rates…

As new financial results are provided, I will update my price target accordingly.

Author Disclosure: I currently own shares of EZPW at the time of this posting.

Support the Finance Puzzle blog this holiday season

As the holiday season quickly approaches and you plan your list of gifts, you can help the Finance Puzzle blog by utilizing my affiliate program with Amazon

So for any of the online gift purchases that you have planned to buy from Amazon, I would appreciate any of my friends that enter into Amazon through this affiliate link.  If you interested in learning how this helps, the blog will make approximately 4% of all of the revenue generated through the Finance Puzzle affiliate link. I know it doesn’t seem like much, but as you are well aware every little bit counts.

I want to thank all you for all of the support of this blog that you have provided so far and I continue to work towards improving this blog, feel free to provide any comments on what you would like to see going forward.

Author Disclosure: I currently do not own any shares of Amazon (AMZN).

Loose Change adds to my net worth

As stated in my most recent financial goal of hitting $5,000 by the end of the year, I was forecasting to convert my annual loose change into $200.

After going to the local Coinstar machine, I was able to convert my loose change into $264.36.  I was able to avoid the coin counting fee by selecting from a list of merchants that would pick up that fee if you convert your change into a gift card at their shop, similar to an affiliate program.

Beating my forecast by over $64 was very much needed, and I will add the entire amount to my net worth.

Author Disclosure: At the time of posting, I do not own any shares of Coinstar (CSTR).
