Dividend Received from XLF investment
The Finance Puzzle portfolio has just received its first dividend from the Financial Select SPDR (XLF) ETF investment that was made back a few months ago. The dividend cash payment was made to my account on July 1st, 2009 in the amount of $3.21 for the 53 shares that are currently in my brokerage account, representing a 0.061 cents per share paid.
When comparing this quarterly dividend payment to my original investment of $511.80, this ETF is currently yielding my portfolio 2.5% before commissions and taxes. This is not exactly what I was originally looking for, seeing that more financial institutions have continued to slash dividends to manage through this credit crisis. I need to re-assess why I would continue to hold this ETF in my portfolio…more to come…
I have deposited this dividend into my net worth account, getting one step close to my financial freedom.
