REI rewards program

About a year ago, I went to REI to purchase some new gear which totaled around $200. At the time of checkout, I decided to sign-up to become an REI member. There is a one-time fee for $20 to receive an annual dividend check for 10% of your eligible purchases. With all of the gear at the store, I expected to shop there more than this last trip.

So this year, I received my dividend check for $70.85, which includes $20.00 for my original purchase. With the check, I have the option to wait until July to redeem for cash or use it on additional purchases throughout the year. I elected to use the check as a credit to my next purchase.

The REI membership is a great reward program option if you plan on spending more that $200 in your lifetime at REI. I will be depositing $50.85 (deducted my initial upfront payment) and any future dividend checks into my savings account.
